We seek a world where neurodegenerative diseases can be cured or prevented.

We want that with our research we contribute to discover new effective treatments for these devastating diseases, and even prevent them.

MISSION:

To understand the complex causes of neurodegenerative diseases, and decipher what there is in each person’s particular life that makes them more susceptible to suffering from one disease or another.

Ongoing Research Lines

Our lab investigates neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s, ALS, and frontotemporal dementia, focusing on their multifaceted causes and systemic impacts, including effects on metabolism and lifestyle factors. We adopt a holistic, multifactorial strategy in our research, integrating multi-omics and personalized medicine to develop tailored patient solutions. 

We have three main ongoing research lines:

  • Deciphering the causal role of lipid metabolism alterations in neurological disorders
  • Unraveling the pathological mechanism of genes related to ALS and frontotemporal dementia (FTD), both at the central nervous system and systemic levels.
  • Personalized medicine approach in patients with ALS and FTD: Working on prevention.
